The Tornado in the Drain

The water combs my hair a lock falls across my mouth the scratchy feel of fur. Water beads on the smooth plastic side,
like eyes they stare at my nakedness.
A long curled hair, a lone crusader swims in the running water to the tornado in the drain.
Like Dorothy whisked from Kansas, the crusader heads for waters unknown, the land of Oz.
My feet, are the fleshy anchors mooring me from the easy answer so that I don't go down with it.
I lay languidly like a noodle
in a bowl of steaming soup the frothy broth marinates

The Limousine WindowOh to fall into the relfection of a limousine window
to sit beside the sophsicated ladies lips dark with fashionable red and ropes of pearls around their necks like privileged nooses
The men in navy suits glasses of whiskey and scotch in hand
make tasteless jokes concerning the chauffeur's cap all with the same laugh all in the same sour breath
The strong shield of black separtes the heavens from the rest of the world
As if my dream were granted the sleek door swings

Single Mom SpaghettiStubby little fingers chubby little hands wrist-high in hamburger meat punch it to a pulp.
Tonight we're having our favourite, Single Mom Spaghetti the stove's all fired up and the stick of spaghetti
starts to turn mushy and starts to swim in the sloppy pot.

I lay on the second hand couch clutching a bag of frozen peas to my hollow head.
She starts to pat out the meatballs the small hands turning worms
of pink meat into solid brown balls.
The lovemaking sounds
of the meat compressing together, bring Single Mom Spaghetti

A Working Woman- Re-editThe sky was a blue frosting with dots of whip cream, I was God and i could eat the whole goddam cake. I was a great big bakery and everyone wanted a taste
But I don't work the dayshifts, nights an easier dress to slip into it covers all flaws,  the spidering of cellulite and shadowing of bruises its easier to pretend in the dark when men have no shame.
Short skirt, high heels, and a wary smile my sugar and spice the icing on the cake sitting stale in the display window, no customers today
